A classic Civil War–period trifold wallet constructed of brown leather and richly embossed throughout with decorative geometric borders and a central patriotic-style shield motif. The design features a finely struck cartouche incorporating stylized elements, including an anchor and foliate devices, suggestive of mid-19th century American ornamental taste. 

The interior retains its original configuration, with multiple compartments and flaps for currency and personal papers, all lined in period cloth. The leather closure strap remains intact, along with its keeper, allowing the wallet to secure properly when folded. The embossed panels continue across both exterior and interior sections, giving ta wonderful look.

Condition shows honest use, with expected surface wear, light cracking, and softness to the leather, all consistent with age and carry. The embossing remains clearly visible and well-defined despite this wear.

An outstanding and highly desirable Confederate States of America $500 note, dated February 17th, 1864, professionally graded and encapsulated by PMG with a grade of Very Fine 30. This example is cataloged as T-64 and features the coveted “Radar Serial Number” designation, adding an additional layer of collector appeal and rarity.

The face of the note displays a striking portrait of Confederate President Jefferson Davis along with patriotic imagery and the Confederate seal bearing the motto “Deo Vindice.” The note retains excellent detail, strong eye appeal, and attractive originality throughout.

What makes this piece especially fascinating is the reverse, which features the famous “In Memoriam” poem respectfully dedicated to the holders of Confederate Treasury Notes. “First Coin of the Americas” with Certificate

An intriguing early colonial coin attributed to the first minting efforts in the New World, struck at Santo Domingo on the island of Hispaniola. These crude copper 4 maravedis pieces are traditionally associated with the earliest coinage produced in the Americas under Spanish authority during the mid-16th century, following the establishment of a royal mint to support expanding colonial trade.

The coin exhibits the expected hand-struck character of early colonial issues, with irregular planchet and softened detail consistent with circulation and age. Despite wear, elements of the design remain visible, offering an authentic representation of these historically significant emissions. Pieces of this type are widely collected as foundational artifacts of New World numismatics.

Accompanied by a printed “Certificate of Authentication” recounting the historical narrative of early minting operations in Santo Domingo and the discovery of similar coins. The coin is housed in a protective display holder labeled “Christopher Columbus – First Coin of the Americas,” enhancing its visual appeal for presentation

Silver Seated Liberty dime with the reverse sanded down and engraved with crossed cannons and “Jonathan F. Hatrick, 112th Regt. Bat.C. 2d Art. P. Vols.” Hatrick enlisted in December 1863 as a sergeant in the 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (originally organized as the 112th Pennsylvania Infantry). The regiment manned forts around Washington DC before serving as infantry in Grant’s Overland Campaign at The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. Hatrick was wounded in action at the Battle of Chaffin’s Farm and was mustered out in January 1866. The badge shows evidence of once having a soldered pin back. Collection of dug artifacts from a Civil War camp on the Buckeystown Pike in Maryland. The lot includes an 1817 Large Cent, 1775 King George copper, 1775 Spanish Reale, some worn copper coins, flat buttons and button backs, a coat sized Civil War eagle “I” button, bayonet scabbard tip, part of a lead backed “V” insignia, a gilt wax seal, curb bit chain, knapsack J hook, slung buckle, and an interesting sheet brass piece stamped “C.S”. Buckeystown, Maryland was the scene of Union and Confederate camps during the 1862 Maryland Campaign. A nice assortment of colonial and Civil War relics housed in a glass topped, hinged wooden display case.

Rare copper medal commemorating the historic British victory at the Battle of Waterloo. The obverse is boldly inscribed “WELLINGTON – WATERLOO – BLUCHER – June 18th, 1815” in concentric circles, honoring the commanding allied generals: the Duke of Wellington and Generalfeldmarschall Blücher. These patriotic medals were privately polished and engraved on Conder tokens and distributed in Britain shortly after Napoleon’s defeat, serving as celebratory keepsakes. This example retains excellent legibility and warm toning, with minor age-related wear. Measures 1 1/8th”, Very Fine, with original gold gilt with an undisturbed patina and clear inscriptions. History of the 1790’s Inverness Halfpenny Conder Token An early British Conder token issued in the late 18th century due to a shortage of small change. This copper halfpenny bears the inscription “INVERNESS HALFPENNY” encircling a thistle, shamrock, and rose—symbolizing the unity of Scotland, Ireland, and England. Such tokens were privately minted and circulated locally. This particular specimen features strong central detail with minor edge nicks and softening of legends due to wear.

This 1825 large cent bears the counterstamp “VOTE THE LAND / FREE”. Popular political token believed to have been issued by the Free-Soil party and their candidate ex-President Martin Van Buren in 1848. He gathered nearly 300,000 votes but no electoral votes. These “tokens” are struck with a die stamp on large cents, very scarce, and highly reproduced.  This example is guaranteed original for life.

Beginning in 1874, the Treasury Department began utilizing a new method of destroying old withdrawn currency. Old currency would be ground up and made into a pulp. Once discovered that this pulp could be made into souvenirs it was obtained by enterprising individuals then formed into objects to sell. This example dates from the late 19th century.

By 1862, the second year of the Civil War, government-issued coinage began vanishing from circulation. American citizens hoarded all coins with gold and silver, and eventually began hoarding copper-nickel cents as well. This made it extremely difficult for businesses to conduct transactions. In response, many merchants turned to private minters to fill the void left by the hoarded coins.
